Tragically, on October 25, 2024, an eight-month-old succumbed to his injuries after suffering for two excruciating months in a Florida hospital. The woman he had complete and utter trust in, is charged with lighting him on fire.
On August 26, 2024, Orange County paramedics rushed three badly burned people to the hospital at approximately 6:30 p.m. The Orlando mother, Esther Thelus, 26, had burns over half of her body. Her 2-year-old’s injuries were considered minor.
According to Law & Crime, the baby, 8-month-old Davinci Joseph, suffered severe burns to 90% of his little body according to the probable cause arrest affidavit. Paramedics resuscitated the boy en route to the hospital and doctors feared he would not survive. The tiny boy fought for two months until he ultimately lost his life.
Orange County investigators uncovered awful details that preceded the fire.
Earlier that August day, Esther dropped off her 2-year-old at the home of the man she believed to be his father. Esther spoke of her plans to move with her infant, Davinci, to Ft. Lauderdale and wanted to leave her toddler in the alleged father’s custody. She didn’t feel she could care for him.
