Come Out With Pride hosts Transgender Day of Remembrance event this weekend

Come Out With Pride Orlando is set to host a Transgender Day of Remembrance event this Sunday to honor transgender individuals who lost their lives to violence.

The event begins at 4 p.m. at the Central Florida Fairgrounds on Colonial Drive and aims to shed light on the strength, resilience and beauty of the transgender community in Orlando and beyond.

Names of individuals who are no longer with us will be read, and paper lanterns will be released into the sky to serve as a symbol of love and remembrance. Lanterns will be provided to the first 50 attendees, or until supplies last. Event entry and parking are free. The event will be held rain or shine.

There are other Trans Day of Remembrance events in the greater Orlando area happening on the day itself — Wednesday, Nov. 20 — including a

Community Gathering and Vigil

on Curry Ford.
