A Pittsburgh pizzeria was hit with a Consumer Alert after rodent droppings and other issues were found after an inspection by the Allegheny County Health Department.
Pizza Romano on the 200 block of Atwood Street was hit with 17 total violations (three high-risk) after an inspection on Thursday, November 14.
According to the inspection report, “numerous rodents droppings to all parts of the facility” were seen in food prep areas and other locations, along with “exposed green bait” seen around the shop. The store doesn’t use a pest control company.
The other two “high-risk” violations include old food debris found on a meat slicer, a potato punch and “in-use food inserts found with old residue from the day before” and the staff inside was not seen changing gloves “at the time of inspection and at the end of inspection”. Two employees were found eating food on “contact” surfaces.
