Authorities today publicly identified a Los Angeles County man who was killed last week in a freeway crash near downtown San Diego.
Cale Wallace, 39, was traveling on a connector ramp from westbound state Route 94 to southbound SR-15 at high speed when the Chevrolet SUV he was driving struck a wall at the edge of the overpass and vaulted off the roadway shortly before 10:30 a.m. Nov. 6, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office and California Highway Patrol.
The San Dimas resident was ejected from the vehicle, which landed on the eastbound side of SR-94, came to rest on an ice plant-covered adjacent slope and caught fire, the CHP reported.
Wallace died at the scene of the accident.
