Republic man arrested for alleged shooting homicide

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A Republic man was arrested and faces several charges regarding a homicide that occurred in June.

According to the Springfield Police Department, Aaron Altic, 34, is facing charges of alleged second-degree murder, armed criminal action, unlawful possession of a firearm and resisting arrest.

Darryl Douglas, 60, was shot on June 5 at 6:07 a.m. Douglas was transported from a residence at 803 S. Douglas to a local hospital.

According to the probable cause statement, Douglas got into a fight with Altic after hitting a woman a day earlier. During the fight, Douglas was shot.

On June 23, Douglas died from his injuries.

On June 26, Altic fled from police at a residence by jumping out of a second-story window and was taken to Cox South Hospital for surgery.

Altic is being held at the Greene County jail with no bond.
