Murphy’s Bar & Grill marks 37th anniversary with ‘Turkey Drop’ for Hawaii Foodbank

HONOLULU (KHON2) — In celebration of its 37th anniversary, longtime Hawaii Foodbank supporter Murphy`s Bar & Grill will hold a one-of-a-kind “Turkey Drop” donation drive to collect frozen turkey donations to the Hawaii Foodbank for Hawaii`s needy families for the Thanksgiving holiday.

It all starts at 11 a.m. and lasts until 7 p.m., as owner Don Murphy will be outside on Nuuanu Avenue grilling free cheeseburger sliders topped with tender pork belly and handing out a bag of chips to all who donate a frozen turkey by simply driving down Nuuanu Avenue or walking to the donation area.

Donors are encouraged to “Just slide on into the holidays!”

“Our target is 100 turkey donations,” says Murphy. “Of course, we`re hoping for a lot more.”

The Hawaii Foodbank frozen Turkey Drop is also a celebration of Murphy`s Bar & Grill`s 37th anniversary, and it marks 13-years of his restaurant`s annual tradition of supporting the Hawaii Foodbank and the Hawaii families that rely on it over the Thanksgiving holiday.
