CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — It looks like a beloved hot wiener joint in Cranston that closed over the summer isn’t going to sit empty for too long.
Wein-O-Rama is in the process of being purchased by Eric Beaune, owner of Garden Hills Fruit and Deli, and Fly Alliance’s Chris Tasca, 12 News has learned.
The Oaklawn Avenue diner shuttered back in August after more than 60 years in business. It first opened back in 1962 and was known for having the “ Best Hot Wieners Anywhere .”
Beaune told 12 News the sale is still in the works, but he hopes it will be finalized by the beginning of next year.
Though he admitted that Wein-O-Rama needs some work before it can open back up, Beaune said he and Tasca plan to keep it the same as it was.
“We think that’s what people want,” Beaune said.
Their goal is to have Wein-O-Rama back open sometime next spring.
