PARCHMAN – Parchman inmate Richard Gerald Jordan, Mississippi’s longest-tenured death row inmate, has filed court documents asking to have his death sentence vacated. Jordan’s lawyers argue the death penalty was not a constitutionally viable punishment back in 1976, which is when police say Jordan kidnapped and murdered a Gulfport banker’s wife.
