Dane County Sheriff’s Office responds to viral video of forceful vehicle stop

CHRISTIANA, Wis. — The Dane County Sheriff’s Office responded to a video that was circulating on social media of a woman who was forcibly removed from her vehicle during a traffic stop by a Dane County Sheriff’s Office Deputy on Nov 8.

DCSO said on Friday at approximately 9:00 p.m. a Dane County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop on US Highway near Rodney Road in the Town of Christiana. The 2006 Land Rover, with four people inside was not registered and the license plate did not match the vehicle.

A Dane County Deputy contacted Dashiae Williams, 22, of Cambridge. It was also determined that Williams reportedly didn’t have a valid driver’s license and was operating without insurance.

DCSO said Williams tried to put the vehicle in reverse and drive away, deputies put tire deflation devices in front of her passenger-side tires.

Williams allegedly refused the deputies orders to exit the SUV and continued to be verbally aggressive, resulting in the deputy removing her from the SUV. Williams allegedly continued to fight with deputies and a Taser was used before she was placed in custody.
