Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City mayor, has handed over his Mercedes-Benz convertible, luxury watches, a ring, and financial assets to two Georgia election workers. This comes after months of legal battles over a $150 million defamation judgment against Giuliani.
Giuliani was ordered to pay Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss for falsely accusing them of election fraud during the 2020 presidential election. Giuliani’s attorneys claimed his apartment was nearly empty when the election workers’ receivership team entered.
After a court deadline, Giuliani’s attorney confirmed that watches and a ring were delivered to Atlanta, while the Mercedes-Benz was sent to Florida. Giuliani’s bank was also instructed to transfer non-exempt funds to the plaintiffs.
Despite surrendering these assets, Giuliani’s attorney argued that certain items, such as lower-value jewelry and household furniture, should be exempt from the turnover. He also requested a postponement of the upcoming trial to accommodate Giuliani’s planned attendance at events in Washington.
