Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, the entire Hudson Valley of New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Southern Vermont & New Hampshire are all in a zone of elevated fire risk from the Storm Prediction Center. This is a very rare occurrence for the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic states.
Red Flag Warnings are posted for this entire region which has been suffering moderate to severe drought conditions. The drought conditions are likely to get worse as no rain is forecast for this region over the next 5 days.
Weather conditions are going to be sunny for both Saturday and Sunday as high pressure wedges in along the coast. There is a storm to the east in the Atlantic and that creates a tight pressure gradient. Winds will be rather gusty at times to 25 or even 30 mph especially along the coast. As far as rain is concerned, the next storm system is due to arrive Thursday as a strong low develops in the Midwest. This has a chance of bringing up to an inch of rain but bear in mind that much of this area is suffering from an 8 to 10 inch rain deficit that dates back to early August.
