If you’ve been planning a night out at Zuma, the trendy Japanese restaurant in downtown Miami, you might have to hit pause on those plans. The celebrity-favorite hotspot had to close its doors unexpectedly on Monday due to severe flooding caused by what they’re calling a “building maintenance issue.”
What Happened?
Over the weekend, a video clip shared by Only in Dade went viral, showing a cascade of water streaming down from the ceiling inside Zuma’s kitchen and chic main dining area. The footage captured the extent of the damage, with water pouring onto tables and the floor, soaking the sleek décor that Zuma is known for. It’s not every day you see a high-end restaurant dealing with what looked more like a mini waterfall inside its space!
The Restaurant’s Response
In a statement shared with Miami.com, a representative for Zuma reassured customers that they’re working quickly to address the situation. “We are taking immediate steps to resolve the issue and ensure a safe, welcoming environment,” they said. While the exact timeline for reopening remains uncertain, the restaurant hopes to be back up and running later this week, with plans to accommodate rescheduled reservations as soon as possible.
