PORT CHARLOTTE — The Hammocks at West Port recently welcomed its 100th new resident, highlighting the lure of Southwest Florida to the real estate market.
M/I Homes Southwest Florida, the development firm behind The Hammocks, highlighted the sale to new homeowner Kelly Cortés and her family as the latest step in the company’s expansion.
Danielle Calamela, the company’s vice president of sales and marketing, stated in a news release that the Venice-Port Charlotte area was drawing from a broad trend of South Florida residents looking for a more affordable location.
“It’s really just ideally positioned,” she said.
The Cortés family joins roughly 150,000 buyers who have purchased from M/I Homes over the company’s 40-year history.
The Hammocks in West Port began construction in early 2022, with the first new residents moving in by the end of that same year.
West Port is anticipated to see further development after entering into a contract with the Murdock Village Community Redevelopment Agency to purchase an additional 101 acres for an expasion.
