In an attempt to sway potential jurors for his upcoming sex trafficking trial, Sean “Diddy” Combs has attempted to contact potential witnesses and sway public opinion from behind bars, according to prosecutors who filed a court filing pleading with a judge to deny his most recent bail request.
According to prosecutors, a review of Combs’s recorded jail calls reveals that he has urged family members to contact witnesses and possible victims and to craft “narratives” to sway the jury pool. They claim that he has also supported marketing tactics aimed at influencing public opinion.
Even while in custody, the defendant has demonstrated time and time again that he will willfully and flagrantly break the law to influence the outcome of his case. Prosecutors wrote in a redacted submission, “The defendant has demonstrated, in other words, that he cannot be trusted to abide by rules or conditions.”
Combs’s lawyers did not immediately respond to requests for comment
Combs, 55, was arrested in September and taken to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where prosecutors said he started breaking the law almost immediately.
