The Open Gate Cemetery Associates, along with Boy Scout Troop #84, had the fall grounds cleaned up on Oct. 26. The cemetery is located at 124 W. Broadway St., Osseo.
Several boys and their fathers were present with rakes, shovels, and pruners as two dead ash trees were removed. There were also several loads of pine needles that were raked and hauled to the yard waste site.
The cemetery has suffered several losses of ash trees recently.
Workers also had a monument cleaning demonstration by Kurt Kragness, a member of the association, as many of the stones are from the mid 1800s. Some of the scouts had hands-on experience in the restoration.
The Troop was thanked by Cemetery Association President Larry Phenow, and acknowledged for their many years of assisting in the grounds clean up.
Treats were also served to the workers.
