How should a music school celebrate its 50th anniversary? With music of course!
Iowa City’s Preucil School of Music is doing just that. Not that anything is new about that. In fact, during the last 50 years, the students have done their part to create a rich musical environment in our community and beyond, regularly performing for community and university events. Recitals and our annual Hancher concert are free and open to the public.
Performances in our state, the Midwest, and tours abroad have spread musical friendship and earned the school an international reputation of excellence.
As a non-profit community music school, tuition alone did not support the rich curriculum performance opportunities of the last 50 years. The school is grateful for the financial support and volunteer help provided by many individuals and businesses in our community.
Fine musicians were developed, and lives were enriched by donations to the financial aid fund.
To express our thanks the school is sponsoring free, celebratory concerts throughout this academic year featuring alumni and friends.
