$33M Chinatown affordable housing project holds grand opening, blessing

CHINATOWN, Hawaii (KHON2) — A blessing and grand opening ceremony commemorated the completion of 40 additional housing units in Chinatown at the revamped three-story historic Hocking Building.

After 18 months of construction, the $33 million project features “studio, one- and two-bedroom rentals for households earning up to 30 to 50% of the area median income.”

According to officials, rent and utilities will range from $731 for a studio to $1,566 for a two-bedroom.
