Storm Conditions Approaching: Wet and Windy Weekend for Western Washington

Western Washington braces for a stormy weekend as a strong weather system moves in today. Expect widespread rain and breezy winds, with showers persisting through Sunday night. Clearing skies earlier allowed fog to form in areas like the Lower Chehalis Valley and Hood Canal, dropping visibility to less than a mile.

Rain will spread inland by this afternoon, accompanied by rising snow levels, which will hit 3,000 feet by evening. Overnight, stronger winds could bring gusts of 30-40 mph as temperatures hold in the mid-40s.

Sunday brings colder air, lowering snow levels below most passes and introducing thunderstorms along the coast. A cool upper-level trough will keep showers and potential snow in the forecast through Monday.
