Decatur K-9 set to retire from police department

DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) – The Decatur Police Department’s K-9, Baron, will soon retire after nearly eight years with the department. According to WAFF’s newspaper partner, The Decatur Daily, Baron began his career with Decatur PD in 2016 after being purchased through a south Alabama vendor. Following that, Baron was enrolled along with his handler, Officer Greg Rutherford in a 14-week K-9 training academy through the Huntsville Police Department.
