2 Florida drivers dead after cars engulfed in flames along State Road 82

IMMOKALEE, Fla. (WFLA) — Two people died Friday night after a crash caused their cars to become engulfed in flames on State Road 82 in Collier County.

The crash happened around 11:35 p.m., just west of Gator Slough Lane, according to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The drivers, a 60-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, both from Lehigh Acres, were reportedly heading in opposite directions on State Road 82 when, for an unknown reason, the man crossed over the center lane and hit the woman’s vehicle head-on.

Both the man’s sport utility vehicle and the woman’s sedan immediately became engulfed in flames, troopers reported.

The 60-year-old man and 21-year-old woman were both pronounced dead at the scene by Collier County EMS.

As of Saturday, Nov. 16, the Florida Highway Patrol said the crash was still under investigation. No further information was immediately available.
