SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Velocity set off Saturday morning to win its first championship in team history.
The Velocity dominated their competition and are now set to battle it out in the USL League One final.
Fans gathered to send them off this afternoon at the Spokane International Airport, making noise, chants and dressed head to toe in electric blue Spokane Velocity gear to wish their favorite players good luck.
The team is also making history by being the first franchise in their first year to reach a USL League One championship game.
“The guys are ready to go. We had a great week of training coming into this. We feel the support from the community for sure,” said Camron Miller, a USL Spokane defender. “All the guys are really excited and ready to go.”
Miller said he’s gearing to go ahead of Sunday’s championship game in Omaha, Nebraska.
“Honestly, just go in there and play how we have in the last two games. Bring the energy. We’re away so having these guys with us and everything really excites us,” Miller said.
