Tri-State cancer survivor organizes concert to help others

PHILPOT, Ky. (WEHT) — A Tri-State cancer survivor helped organize a concert to help others through their own cancer battles.

Owensboro country music artist Cam Thompson performed at Saturday’s Give Cancer the Boot event, and Owensboro artist Aaron Kizer also attended.

Thompson’s family helped put on the event. His mother is a cancer survivor and is working to help other patients.

We’re told proceeds from the concert will benefit the Mitchell Memorial Cancer Center.

“We wanted to give back to maybe those people that don’t have the support that I have. But I also wanted to give back to the hospital because they’ve been so fantastic,” said Krista Thompson. “We’re very thankful and very grateful for this community.”

The night also featured a whiskey raffle, along with food trucks and merchandise.

Donations can still be made at OwensboroHealth.org/GiveCancerTheBoot .
