Colorado defeated Utah 49-24 on Saturday, and legendary Utes head coach Kyle Whittingham praised the Buffaloes after the game when speaking with the media.
“The first thing I’ll say is that’s a very good football team that we played today,” Whittingham said. “Coach [Deion] Sanders has done a great job of getting that thing put together. I don’t think there’s any doubt that’s the best team we played this year.”
Whittingham specifically praised Shedeur Sanders, saying “the quarterback is terrific,” and singled out wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter, calling him a “superstar.”
Sanders completed 30-41 passes for 340 yards and three touchdowns in a near-flawless effort marred only by one interception and a lost fumble. Travis Hunter caught five passes for 55 yards while contributing three tackles, one pass defense, and an interception on defense.
Colorado had a preseason win total of 5.5 games, and they’ve flown past that number with an 8-2 record. The Buffaloes are the betting favorites to win the Big 12, a conference the Utes were projected to win before the season.
