Firefighter Injured in Second-Alarm Laundry Room Fire in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif., Nov. 17 (KNN) — A firefighter was injured during a structural collapse while battling a second-alarm, possible arson fire in Bakersfield Saturday evening.

Around 8 p.m., the Bakersfield and Kern County Fire Departments were dispatched for multiple reports of an electrical room on fire at the Four Points by Sheraton Bakersfield off California Avenue.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a laundry room fully engulfed in flames. During the firefight, one of the sides of the building collapsed on a firefighter prompting a mayday call.

He was treated for unknown injuries and remained on scene with Hall Ambulance paramedics.

The Bakersfield Fire Department Arson unit is investigating the cause of the fire.
