Florida State University receives $9.5 million bequest from alumnus

Florida State University (FSU) in Tallahassee has announced a $9.5 million bequest from the estate of alumnus Granville L. Larimore. The unrestricted gift will be evenly distributed between the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy. The colleges will establish endowments in Larimore’s name of $3.5 million each, intended to support academic and faculty excellence. For each college, its remaining $1.2 million will be directed to immediate needs, including faculty and student support. Larimore, who died in February at the age of 86, received degrees in history and economics from FSU in the early 1960s before embarking on a career with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
