Tropical Storm Debby victims have more time to apply for SBA low-interest loans

Did you suffer under Tropical Storm Debby ? There is more time to access some much-needed relief .

The U.S. Small Business Administration announced via news release Saturday that the deadline to apply for low-interest Physical and Economic Injury Disaster Loans has been extended to Jan. 7.

Physical loans are for affected homeowners, renters, nonprofit organizations, and businesses. EIDLs are for small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, and most private nonprofit organizations.

The disaster declaration covers Bryan, Bulloch, Chatham, Effingham, Evans, Liberty, Long and Screven counties. Small businesses and most private nonprofit organizations in the following adjacent counties are eligible to apply for EIDLs: Burke, Candler, Emanuel, Jenkins, McIntosh, Tattnall, and Wayne in Georgia; and Allendale, Hampton, and Jasper in South Carolina.

SBA explained that FEMA grants are intended to cover necessary expenses and serious needs not paid by insurance or other sources. This disaster loan program is designed for long-term recovery.
