In a remarkable tale of resilience and survival, the Cape Wildlife Center in Massachusetts recently shared the story of an extraordinary patient they’ve named “Deadpool.” This diamondback terrapin, found in a shocking condition, has become an inspiring symbol of resilience and survival.

“She was brought into the hospital last week when she was found… well basically faceless,” explained the local nonprofit. Despite missing her eyes, nose, and part of her mouth, Deadpool had somehow managed to survive in the wild for several months. The extent of her injuries and subsequent healing left the wildlife center staff in awe. “The injury looks to be about several months old and completely healed,” the center reported, drawing a parallel to the Marvel character known for his regenerative abilities. “Could she also have accelerated super healing powers?!?”

The Cape Wildlife Center noted that she was in good body condition, indicating that she had been able to feed herself independently. Her bright and active demeanor further impressed the staff, showcasing her incredible will to live.
