Broward County police are looking for a suspect after two all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) collided on November 9 in Pompano Beach, leaving a man dead. The driver of the other ATV fled the scene.
In a press release, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office’s (BSO) reports that its traffic homicide unit responded to a report about a crash between two ATVs around 7:00 p.m. The crash occurred on the 2600 block of West Atlantic Boulevard, a public road where ATVs do not belong.
When police arrived, all other vehicles involved in the incident, including dirt bikes and additional ATVs, had fled. Only the victim and his Yamaha Raptor 700 ATV remained.
So far, the investigation has revealed that someone driving “an ATV – possibly a Quad – was traveling westbound on West Atlantic Boulevard when the driver made an improper left turn across a curbed grass median directly in the path” of the victim’s ATV.
As a result, the victim, Alexander Frometa, “was ejected from the ATV”. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue took him to Broward Health North, where he succumbed to his injuries.
No further announcements have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
