Alegria By El Rancherito, a Colombian restaurant at 8391 NW 12th St in Miami, Florida, was ordered to close temporarily on November 6, 2024, following a routine inspection by the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation.

State records showed that the Miami-Dade County restaurant, known for its traditional Colombian fare and cocktails, received an emergency order to stop operations due to multiple violations.

The inspection revealed 28 total violations, including 6 high-priority, 9 intermediate, and 13 basic violations.

High-priority violations included live flying insects in the kitchen and bar areas, with 40 flies observed throughout the establishment. The inspector acknowledged observing 12 live flies in the bar area, inside the blender machine., and 20 live flies in the produce area in the back of the kitchen.

Other high-priority issues involved uncooked animal foods not properly separated in holding units and a malfunctioning dishwashing machine that wasn’t sanitizing properly.
