DENVER ( KDVR ) — The University of Colorado Buffaloes’ superfan Peggy Coppom was celebrated by the crowd at Folsom Field on Saturday as she turned 100 years old, for the second time in a week.
Coppom began cheering on the Buffs when she was 15 years old, alongside her twin sister. The pair were known by Buffs fans as “the twins” and were season ticket holders since 1958. Coppom’s sister, Betty Hoover, died in 2020 at the age of 95. However, Coppom continues to find community in her beloved Buffs.

Earlier this year, Coppom’s absence was particularly noted by the Colorado Buffaloes. Coach Deion Sanders told reporters during a post-game press conference that she was fighting COVID and was forced to miss the game.
On Saturday, as Coppom attended the game against the Utah Utes, the team and fans wanted to ensure her 100th birthday was marked with a celebration. She turns 100 on Nov. 19 . The long-time superfan could be seen tearing up as she was serenaded by 54,646 — fourth-largest in school history — and displayed the superfan’s reaction on the stadium’s scoreboard.
