San Francisco residents now have a new transportation option with the launch of the Bayview Shuttle on Nov. 12. This on-demand service allows riders to access another convenient way to get around the city, with trips available within minutes of booking. For the first month, until Dec. 11, 2024, all rides are free!
Designed with equity in mind, the shuttle aims to connect Bayview Hunter’s Point more effectively with the broader city. Operated by Via and funded through a California Air Resources Board grant, the service operates seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. Riders can book trips via a mobile app or by calling the Bayview Shuttle Customer Care line, which offers support in multiple languages including English, Spanish, Cantonese, and Filipino.
The service includes wheelchair-accessible vehicles, and passengers can request door-to-door service through their user profiles. Pick-up and drop-off zones are located at key external access points like the 22nd St Caltrain Station and SF General Hospital, ensuring seamless connections within the community. All rides within the service zone are completed within 15 minutes, making this an efficient new option for local residents.
