Deputies investigate homicide in south Sacramento after woman dies from stab wounds

Investigators are working to uncover a homicide in south Sacramento after a woman died from stab wounds Sunday morning.

Deputies were called to a report of a stabbing around 6:30 a.m. after a woman was taken to a hospital with wounds consistent with a stabbing, said Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Amar Gandhi. The woman died at the hospital, he said.

Homicide detectives and deputies learned the stabbing likely occurred on the 6300 block of Leola Way in the unincorporated Lemon Hill neighborhood, Gandhi said.

No other details were immediately available.

The woman’s identity was expected to be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office in the coming days.

The incident follows a shooting in the Lemon Hill area that left one man dead Friday night , according to the Sheriff’s Office.
