NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Two Norfolk men involved in a North Carolina gun store robbery in 2021 have been sentenced for federal firearms crimes.
According to court documents, Khari Terell Wood, 28, and other individuals broke into Gale Force Guns in Moyock, North Carolina, on Sept. 20, 2021, and stole five firearms.
A month later, Wood and others returned to the Gale Force Guns store on Oct. 22 and stole 47 additional firearms. Wood then transported the stolen firearms from North Carolina to Norfolk.
Six days later, officers recovered several firearms after finding Wood in a stolen vehicle at his residence on Oct. 28. Wood attempted to flee into his residence, but the officers were able to detain him and search the stolen vehicle.
On Nov. 26, 2021, Isaiah Malquawn Hopkins, 28, used one of the stolen handguns to shoot through a glass door at the River View Market in Norfolk. He then entered the store and stole a lottery ticket box.
The Indiana State Police stopped Hopkins on March 14, 2022, for a traffic infraction and found the handgun near the driver seat during a search of the vehicle.
