Police: Woman shot in the back in a Wichita bar parking lot

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Police are searching for two suspects after a woman was shot in the back at a bar.

According to the Wichita Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of E. Lincoln St. around 1:30 a.m. Sunday for the report of a shooting.

Police say the woman told officers that she was leaving the bar and going to her car when two men in ski masks approached her.

“She tried to get under a car to protect herself and, in the process, was shot in the back one time,” said WPD Lieutenant Doug Gerdes.

The woman was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

At this time, the two suspects are unaccounted for.

“The two suspects that she’s advising us are outstanding at this time,” said Lt. Gerdes. “We’re not being told that they took off in a vehicle. So it’s unknown whereabouts where they went to.”

The investigation is ongoing.
