Huskers snap counts, PFF grades in loss to USC

The Nebraska Huskers football team again fell short on Saturday against USC but there were some noticeable changes in the first game under new offensive coordinator and play-caller Dana Holgorsen.

The Huskers had more quick throws, utilized tempo more and gave guys more chances in one-on-one situations, with mixed results, but the personnel also changed a bit.

Running back Emmett Johnson took over as the lead back, getting a season-high 48 snaps and taking advantage of the opportunity. He totaled 91 yards and a touchdown on 17 touches, averaging over 5 yards per run and catch.

Dante Dowdell, on the other hand, got just 15 snaps but still racked up 54 yards on 10 touches.

Additionally, Janiran Bonner saw the field more, playing 23 snaps, his most since Week 3, and Micah Mazzccua took over at left tackle from Gunnar Gottula less than halfway through the game and played well, so that change may stick.
