An analysis from RentCafe ranked 139 metro areas across the United States, six of which are in Tennessee.
The real estate company measured the metro areas by their socioeconomics, quality of life, location and community to determine each city’s overall livability.
Within those three categories, RentCafe looked at things such as the cost of living, unemployment rates, access to recreation and entertainment, commute lengths, health care and more.
Here’s how these Tennessee cities stacked up.
1. Clarksville
Clarksville clinched the top rank of livability in Tennessee, ranked No. 88 nationwide.
Clarksville is located in North Tennessee, sharing its city border with the Kentucky state line. The city has a population of 166,722 people with a median household income of $67,246, according to 2020 census data.
RentCafe ranked Clarksville highest in “Quality of Life” in Tennessee. The city has a high number of residents with health insurance, more than 90%, and a ratio of 24 health care providers per 10,000 residents.
