Sacramento, CA – Northern California is under a Winter Storm Watch as a severe storm approaches the Sierra Nevada. The National Weather Service has warned of heavy snowfall beginning Tuesday afternoon and continuing through Wednesday evening. Accumulations could reach up to three feet at higher elevations above 4500 feet. Areas above 3500 feet may see 4 to 8 inches of snow, while peaks could exceed two feet. Gusty winds up to 50 mph may cause additional hazards, including fallen tree branches and poor visibility.
