Search underway in McClellanville for person who fled traffic stop

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD)- Deputies are searching the McClellanville area for a person who reportedly fled a traffic stop early Monday afternoon.

The suspect fled after deputies attempted a traffic stop on South Fraser Street in Georgetown, according to the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies pursued the vehicle southbound on Highway 17, reaching speeds over 100 mph. The suspect then abandoned the vehicle around Brailsford Road in Charleston County, authorities said.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is assisting in the search.
