WASHINGTON D.C. — A Seneca man has been sentenced to prison for his involvement in the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.
On Friday, a federal judge sentenced Kyler Bard, 27 to one year and one day in prison, followed by two years of supervised release. Bard is also required to pay $2,000 in restitution.
He pleaded guilty in May to six charges , including assaulting an officer, civil disorder, and entering a restricted building. Bard admitted to attending the “Stop the Steal” rally in Washington, D.C., on January 6, 2021. He later made his way to the Capitol’s Upper West Terrace, where he grabbed a megaphone, shouted at people to charge a police line, and shoved an officer.
FBI agents arrested Bard 11 days later in Missouri.
The president-elect, Donald Trump, said on the campaign trail that he would pardon most of those charged in the January 6th riots.
Trump said , “I am inclined to pardon many of them. I can’t say for every single one because a couple of them, probably, they got out of control.”
