BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Local auto detailers have received dozens of calls since last week about the mystery substance that’s appeared on cars in Baldwin County. While the source is still unknown, we have a better idea of how much it’s costing each driver to clean it off.
UPDATE: Woman hit by car near Bankhead Tunnel
Wade Murrell, the owner of Lux Detailing & Window Tint, said he’s never seen anything like the substance in his 10 years working in the industry.
“We are getting pounded with calls every day but we look to take care of as many people as we possibly can,” Murrell said.
The next vehicle that his crew is set to begin working on is a brand new Land Rover that is covered in the mystery substance, an almost $4,000 job. He said this car is just one of the dozen booked for services to clean off the mystery gunk.
Murrell said that all of the cars that his crew will restore have one thing in common. They all drove down State Route 104 through Silverhill about two weeks ago.
