JANESVILLE — Emergency crews were investigating a report early Monday evening of an individual going into the Rock River near South Main and East Court streets, near the Court Street bridge.
A spokesperson at the Rock County 911 Communications Center said the call came in at 4:57 p.m. and he confirmed that there was a large emergency presence on South Main Street for a water rescue operation.
The 911 spokesperson said he knew of no streets closed off in the area in connection with the incident. Traffic appeared to a Gazette reporter to be flowing normally both eastbound and westbound over the Court Street bridge around 5:20 p.m.
Janesville Fire Marshall Nathan Simmons said fire department personnel were on the scene of a water rescue, and said no other information was available.
Messages left with the Janesville Police Department were not immediately returned.
