Modern Japanese Restaurant Coming to Downtown Lakeland

Hakucho, a modern Japanese izakaya specializing in small, shareable Japanese plates, is set to open in downtown Lakeland in January 2025, co-owner Chris Cleghorn shared with Business Debut. Located at 207 E Main St, Lakeland, FL 33801, this new concept aims to offer a relaxed, inviting space where guests can enjoy traditional Japanese-inspired bites paired with craft cocktails, beer, and wine.

The concept, which we announced last year, has faced some delays with construction, but is on track for opening next year, Cleghorn said.

Cleghorn and his partners Amanda Watson and Ryan Neal are also the team behind the popular Sābu Ramen. Currently, they are putting the finishing touches on Hakucho’s interior. Designed to seat over 130 guests, the space will evoke a modern atmosphere, ideal for gatherings with friends and family over a curated menu of Japanese small plates.
