Stivers needs to stop. Voters don’t want tax money diverted to private schools. Letters

It seems that every year Kentucky voters are presented a new way for legislators to divert tax monies to fund private schools. The 2024 version was Amendment 2. This follows prior failed attempts such as tax savings accounts (2021), vouchers in 2022, and charter school vouchers most recently. All 120 Kentucky counties soundly rejected Amendment 2 by 65% in the recent election. Still Republican lawmakers refuse to accept the results. Senate President Robert Stivers stated, “They said they don’t like that pathway, so we’re going to look at other pathways.” Voters have spoken and sent the message of no tax money for private schools. If Stivers continues to find new pathways, maybe a different no message needs be spoken the next time he is up for re-election.
