The State Board of Education heard hours of public comments on a controversial set of new instructional materials for elementary school students.
The lesson plans include biblical readings and lessons on religion, predominantly focusing on Christianity. More than 150 people signed up to give their thoughts at Monday’s board meeting which included both supporters and critics.
The board has not yet given their decision and if they do approve the new curriculum, districts would have the choice to use it, or not, starting August 2025 .
