Durham Teen Charged After Being Shot by Police Officer at Car Club Meet-Up, Officer on Leave Pending Investigation

A 16-year-old is currently recovering in a hospital after being shot twice by a Durham police officer. The shooting occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning at a car club meet-up in the parking lot of a shopping center on Hope Valley Road, as Spectrum News reported. The teenager, Joshua García, has been charged with assault with a firearm on a law enforcement officer, possession of a handgun by a minor, and resisting a public officer. These charges have been confirmed by WRAL News as juvenile petitions filed against García.
