Baton Rouge General announces plans for new hospital in Livingston Parish

DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (BRPROUD) — Healthcare access in Livingston Parish is set to improve with Baton Rouge General’s plans for a new neighborhood hospital near Juban Road and I-12.

The 40,000-square-foot facility will feature a 14-bed emergency room and 12 inpatient beds, providing essential healthcare services to the growing community.

“It gives people another option for emergency care,” said Meghan Parrish, vice president of marketing and communications at Baton Rouge General.

The hospital aims to offer quicker access to emergency services, which Parrish emphasized is critical in life-threatening situations, like heart attacks or strokes.

Baton Rouge General drew inspiration from its Ascension Neighborhood Hospital, which has been in operation for nearly five years.

“We learned a lot about how it’s set up,” Parrish said. “For example, we’re going to have our CT [scanner] in a different location that’s easier to get to. We also learned that we need more space and room to grow.”
