Gino Vannelli, who lives in Corbett, releasing first music in six years, a personal work honoring late wife

Singer and musician Gino Vannelli , who gave us 1978 hit “I Just Wanna Stop” and more, will be coming out with a new album for the first time in six years, and it’s a touching and personal piece of work.

The longtime East Multnomah County resident, including in Corbett, comes out with “The Life I Got (To My Most Beloved),” his 22nd album and first studio album since 2019, on Feb. 7 via COA Productions. It’ll be distributed by BFD/The Orchard.

It was written through a time of personal hardship, publicity says, as his wife, Patricia, battled cancer and sadly passed earlier this year. He lost his soulmate, and found the will to move forward.

“It’s an account of all the joys and suffering,” he said in a news release about the album. “She passed away when the record was completed. I remain in awe of Patricia’s courage. I miss her so. My love is eternal.”

The 11 songs includes a rearranged version of “Keep On Walking,” which was part of Vannelli’s third album, “Storm at Sunup,” in 1975.
