Lukka has announced 31 layoffs impacting remote employees who report to its office in North Naples.
In a WARN notice filed with the Florida Department of Commerce, the New York-based technology services company shared its plans for job cuts in “an excess of caution,” with all of the impacted employees working from home or elsewhere – many of them from other states.
Florida requires companies to file an advance notice under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act when there’s a plant closing or a mass layoff, so state and local assistance can be promptly provided to the affected workers.
According to the notice, the layoffs include everyone from the CEO to a communications specialist. The notice did not include a reason for the job cuts.
All of the job cuts are expected to occur within a two-week period, starting Nov. 15.
Some employees may not be required to work through their separation date, but they will receive their regular pay and benefits through that date, unless they willingly resign, or they get fired for another reason, not related to the layoffs, explained Audrey Niesen, the company’s chief financial officer, in the WARN notice.
