A Marrero native who was a bit of a homebody, Rasean “Turtle” Carter, 21, had never been to a second-line before Sunday afternoon, his niece Chenesha Coler said. But on Sunday, Carter made the trip across the Crescent City Connection to document the Black cultural tradition in New Orleans and develop a growing interest in photography. His friend and uncle, 19-year-old Malachi “Pumpkin” Jackson, was right there with him.
