Doylestown Cemetery Needs Your Help Putting Wreaths on Veterans’ Graves Next Month

DOYLESTOWN, PA—As Doylestown Cemetery prepares to place wreaths on the graves of veterans early next month, officials are asking residents to step up and purchase wreaths by Dec. 3.

For the second year in a row, volunteers will place wreaths on veterans’ graves in the Doylestown Cemetery. While the Dec. 14 event is part of the national organization Wreaths Across America, the group doesn’t provide the wreaths. Local communities are responsible for purchasing wreaths.

As of mid-November, just over 700 wreaths had been purchased. There are approximately 1,250 veterans’ graves in the cemetery, so hundreds more wreaths are needed, and a Dec. 3 deadline to purchase wreaths is approaching quickly.

Wreaths are being sold online for $17 each, but a special deal automatically increases purchases of three wreaths to an order of five for the same price.

“If you buy three wreaths,” said Steve Fischer, Post Commander for the Doylestown Post 175 VFW and coordinator for the wreath-laying ceremony in Doylestown, “two wreaths will be added on by the Wreaths Across America organization.”
